  • Playtech (Gaming Software provider) plans to raise £175m in IPO

    from Casino news; Playtech, a software group that builds systems for online gaming operators, on Friday 16th February unveiled plans to float that will value it at £550m ($954m) and net £70m for Teddy Sagi, the Israeli entrepreneur, its largest shareholder.

    The group is taking advantage of investor appetite for online gaming stocks by seeking a £175m placing on Aim. The float will be the biggest so far of 2006.

    A Philippines-based company has won a £16.6m jackpot prize on the UK National Lottery after buying thousands of tickets, reports the Sunday Times . Lottery operator Camelot has said it will honour the payout, despite rules which state that only British residents are eligible to receive prizes, because the syndicate used a UK-based British national as an intermediary.

    Users will be able to access the site through the channel's own website, which attracts over 1.6 million unique users per month, according to Metrics Market.

    The Channel 4 site will aim to capitalise on the station's extensive coverage of horseracing, the most popular betting market on the exchanges in the UK.

    "We are actively pursuing ways to generate additional commercial return from horseracing and a betting exchange is a logical way of achieving this," Dave Kerr, head of sport at Channel 4's, said.
